You’ve just found yourself on a small island where everyone knows everyone, where grown men spend most of their day swinging and kids are still out on the streets, chasing an empty plastic bottle with a stick.
Maybe everything looks just like you imagined or maybe not. Maybe it isn't what you expected. But after a day or three something inside of you changes. You start to belong. Suddenly it’s your spot, your chair, your road, your coffee place.
Before you know it, Vashafaru becomes a part of you.
Yes, the beaches are beautiful. The water really is that blue. Turtles glide along the house reef and life moves at a wonderfully unhurried pace.
Yet... that's not why you will remember your stay.
You will remember sharing dinner under the stars after a day in the ocean. Riding in the back of a pickup truck on the way to an excursion. Learning how to say shukuriyaa and hamajehey. Laughing with people who were complete strangers just a few days earlier.

Living by the ocean has taught us a few valuable lessons. Tides come and go. Currents change the shape of the island, if we like it or not.
Lessons are not about the ocean at all.
Where will you be staying?
Our houses
Choose between our two lovely homes, both small, charming and just a few minutes from the ocean.
The first thing you'll notice when you arrive at Aqua Villa is the garden. A big, shady space with plenty of sand for our youngest guests and a chill-out area for those young at heart. Exhale, you have arrived. There are three comfy rooms in Aquavilla and a cozy restaurant where we serve freshly prepared meals for all our guests. If you'd like to enjoy your coffee with an ocean breeze in our living room nearby, this is your spot.
Aqua Cottage is a peaceful little hideaway with four rooms, tucked in the western part of the island, close to the bikini beach. Surrounded by palm trees and sounds of the ocean, it’s the perfect choice for beach lovers and anyone seeking a quiet retreat. And don’t worry, we’ll take you to and from the restaurant in our trusty golf cart (yes, it’s part of the charm!).
No matter where you stay, you'll get the same warm welcome, personalised attention and plenty of space to slow down. The rest has a way of taking care of itself.

Where mornings begin and afternoons disappear
Most pictures of the Maldives show white sand and crystal-clear water. What they don’t show is that every island is different. Some lagoons are incredibly shallow. Beautiful to look at, but you can actually walk for hundreds of metres before the water reaches your knees.
Vashafaru has more than two kilometres of soft white sand and, more importantly, a lagoon that’s wonderful for swimming as soon as you step into the water.
The Living Room
It didn’t take long before we started to call this part of the beach our Living Room. Come here to rest. Read a book. Have a coffee. Chat. Take a nap.
Kids play, worries are gone.

Bikini beach
A little further south you’ll find our Bikini Beach. We’ve built shaded huts where you can escape the tropical sun between swims or after snorkelling around the coral blocks. Aqua Cottage is just a few steps away, making it wonderfully easy to wander back and forth throughout the day.

We opened our own boutique dive center right here on Vashafaru to share the magic of our underwater world.
